Email Notification



Can I use my Yahoo or Gmail email to send notifications? if yes how would the configuration be ?

I know nothing about yahoo, but in theory you should be able to use a GMail account. I don't recommend it, and it probably violates their terms of service though.

I would recommend either just setting up the SMTP service on the IIS server where you host TicketDesk, or just sign-up for a SendGrid account. SendGrid is free for up to 200 emails a day or something, and you can get up to 40k a month for less than $10. You'd use the SendGrid SMTP service with TicketDesk 2.1. For TicketDesk 2.5, I'm currently in the process of writing a SendGrid provider for the web APIs.

If you do want to use Gmail though, you'll need to edit web.config with the correct settings. GMail doesn't use standard SMTP ports. There are dozens of posts on StackOverflow, and elsewhere online, dealing with this exactly that kind of thing. Do note though, it seems that GMail likes to overwrite the "from" address when you relay mail, so make sure you don't do that from your personal account or what not.
